Think you’ve got a good eye for lifting equipment? Take a closer look at this image.
There’s ONE important safety issue hiding in plain sight – can you spot it?
⚠️ The Risk:
The hook’s safety latch is damaged/bent and is not properly closing the throat of the hook.
This means the latch cannot reliably retain the load if the hook becomes unloaded, tilted or subjected to movement.
A damaged or incorrectly functioning safety latch can increase the risk of the load slipping out of the hook, creating a serious lifting hazard.
Always inspect hooks, latches and other lifting components before use. If something is damaged, bent or not functioning correctly, remove it from service and have it properly inspected. When it comes to lifting equipment, small problems can lead to big consequences.
Don’t take the risk.
